Fun in the Sun: Holiday Activities

Holidays can be a tricky time: neurodiverse children and young adults may find it hard to join mainstream sports clubs.  Act-attain works with professional coaches to introduce kayaking, paddleboards, tennis and golf in holiday programmes.

Our aim is to arrange small group sessions for young people and their families to have fun, build friendships and expand their involvement in community sport. We find that family participation and small groups of young people, make it easier to try something new and build skills for life.

Our friendly coaches and activity leaders will help you have fun and join in. You don’t need any previous experience to take part.

“This benefits the whole family over a long Summer holiday.” – Parent

How it works:

What is Fun in the Sun?

Fun in the Sun, FitS, is our activity programme run by Act-attain and our partners over the  holidays and half terms – Spring, Summer and Autumn.

Our sessions are for young people and their families to have fun, build friendships and get active in a no-pressure environment. Activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, tennis and golf.  We also have occasional On the Ball sessions for children on our waiting list so we can get to know each other and start participating in sport.

Fun in the Sun Partners

We run our holiday activities in partnership with Brentford FC CST and Active 360. At Act-attain, we use our understanding of neurodiversity and inclusion to set up small groups of children who we think have similar skills and are a similar age.  Our aim is to build confidence and find friendships for children and families who join us and our partners in sports activities.

Who can take part?

All our sessions are run as small groups of similar ages and abilities. Family members and siblings are welcome too. Watersports participants must be 8+. We also run sessions for teenagers and young adults.

1-2-1 Sessions

Depending on demand, we can sometimes offer 1-2-1 sessions to help a young person get involved with sport. This can be really helpful for getting to know children who are on the On the Ball waiting lists. Contact us if you’d like to learn more.
