Schools’ Stories
At Action-attainment our support for parents spans both home and school. It’s all about individual inclusion strategies – understanding children’s and families’ needs both in and out of the classroom.
In our work with schools, we can support families who really need it, especially children who don’t have an Education, Health and Care plan but do have special educational needs.
Action-attainment’s team has a passion to help each individual child it encounters, and schools say this passion shines through in the delivery of our programmes.
Action-attainment’s networks of partner schools, other charities, community organisations such as Brentford Community Sports Trust, therapists and of course parents – bring a wealth of experience to share with others.
Head
One of the great benefits of working with Action-attainment is the training offered to support staff. By understanding and modelling good practice, staff can encourage children to continue to use appropriate techniques in class. Action-attainment have given our staff more confidence to support children who have additional needs.
Children have gained more understanding about ‘what makes them tick’ and increased their confidence in asking adults for support.
SENCO
I want to support teachers, but also share understanding of a child’s need. As a class teacher of 30 children that can be really difficult.
A big thing I’ve taken from Action-attainment’s training, is how to see the whole child. Inset with Action-attainment has shown us strategies that are not giving a child an ‘easy pass’ but accepting we need to adapt, provide different conditions, so the child can attain, working alongside peers.
Teacher
I have so many practical strategies at my disposal after the Inset from Action-attainment. As a trainer, Tom’s experience of learning and using inclusion strategies from school into the workplace was inspirational. I’m going to refer parents to Action-attainment and On the Ball.
LSA
This inset is so helpful for my role as a Learning Support Assistant and as a parent of a boy with autism. Really useful to have real life examples from Action-attainment’s inset from a person with ASD and knowing how the right strategies can help.
